Frequently Asked Questions:

  • The cost for each individual or couples session is $150.00.

We are covered under benefits for Social Work or Psychotherapy.

Social Worker fees are exclusive of HST, whereas Psychotherapists (who are not social workers) do have to charge HST (currently included in the fee).

We accept payment via credit card through our online booking portal (you will be asked for credit card information when you book your first session).

  • We completely understand private counselling is not affordable for everyone.

Because of this, we offer sliding scale options through our intern program (with fees closer to $60.00 a session). Please contact us to learn more, or book a free consultation with one of our interns.

Or we can help connect you to other affordable/free resources available in your community.

  • We are blessed to have a number of Therapists who are trained in different approaches. Most are trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy. Then we have specialties within our team, such as Brain Spotting, Somatic Therapy, and Narrative Therapy.

We all believe in holistic Therapy, looking at spirit, soul, and body (because mental health can impact each area). We are all Christians and are happy to integrate faith into the therapy process if this is something important to you.

You can read about each Therapist and their approach, and you can book a free consultation if you like, to make sure you find the best match for you.

  • First and foremost, you don’t have to be a Christian to work with a Mindjoy Counsellor! We love supporting anyone and everyone, hoping to heal their mental health and improve relationships. We only talk about God if people ask us to.

Faith-based or faith-integrated therapy bridges the gap between clinical counselling and Christian counselling. People who believe in Jesus often want a Therapist who understands their faith in addition to having strong psychological skills. We offer that service, knowing how meaningful it is for Christians to have a clinically skilled professional who understands their belief system.

  • Our Therapists live all over Ontario (and some outside of Ontario!), so we mostly provide online therapy (which allows us to support people wherever they are). We hope to one day also have a physical space in which we can provide in-person therapy in the Peterborough and Kawartha Lakes region.

  • We are flexible, and it is based on what you need. Some people like to come for a few sessions to help address a current need or to have a check-in. Others want help for more intensive trauma work, which can take several months to a year or more. Whether you’re looking for a long-term or short-term Therapist, we are happy to help!
